For over 35 years, we have been successfully training teachers in Birmingham. Our Secondary Physics SCITT programme offers training across Key Stages 2 and 3 (11-16 year olds) and leads to you achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
We work in partnership with Teach First to deliver their outstanding School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) program.
Our research-oriented course offers a rich hands-on experience supported by the guidance of highly skilled current educators, enabling you to seamlessly apply your learning to the classroom. You’ll immerse yourself in your training school for four days each week, making a positive impact on students while also participating in weekly training and development sessions dedicated to enhancing your teaching practice.
As this is a school-led programme, you will spend the majority of your time in school learning from excellent practitioners. You will start by observing good practice in your placement school before starting to team teach alongside your school mentor. You will then have the opportunity to deliver solo lessons before you begin your assessed teaching practice on a 50% timetable.
Our programme strikes a harmonious balance between enhancing your subject expertise and fostering a profound understanding of effective teaching methodologies and techniques. This allows you not only to effectively manage your workload but also to safeguard your well-being, supporting you towards becoming an outstanding teacher.
You will complete a two-week induction before starting your school placement. This induction will provide you with the opportunity to meet your peers, begin to engage with key learnings and prepare yourself for starting your core school placement.
Your core school placement will begin after you have completed your two-week induction. We organise your core school placement for you, which will be in one of our partner schools
You will take part in weekly training in the form of seminars, events or self-directed study. This will be complemented by subject focused conferences throughout the year and one weeks intensive training in January and April
In Half Term 3 (January) you will complete a six-week second school placement. We organise your second school placement for you, which will be in one of our partner schools.
You will also have the opportunity to experience special schools and alternative provision schools.
You are required to have a degree as this is a postgraduate programme.
Overseas or equivalent qualifications are accepted. Overseas qualifications need to be confirmed by UK ENIC.
Secondary applicants must prove that they have the required subject knowledge for the subject they wish to teach.
You are required to have a GCSE grade C/4 or above in English.

I had a fantastic experience with Titan. I greatly appreciated the positive relationships I built with both the staff and pupils. The support and encouragement I received from my mentors and colleagues were instrumental in my growth and development as a teacher.
The weekly reflections were an invaluable tool that allowed me to reflect on my teaching practices and continuously strive for improvement.
Moreover, the course has established a routine in my life, helping me to manage my time effectively and stay organised. I am grateful for the structure and discipline that Titan has instilled in me.
Titan has been highly supportive of my dreams and ambitions. I wanted to become a teacher, and through the 9-month period of training and teaching experiences, I turned out to become an excellent maths teacher
This has been the hardest and yet most amazing year of my life and … I’ve loved every moment. Titan gave me the opportunity as a mature student to pursue a career that I was struggling to break in to. My first degree wasn’t great but after 18 months working as a TA I got my teacher training opportunity.
Be under no illusion that this will be the busiest, most intense and stressful year but, it will prepare you totally for your NQT year. The support that Titan staff afford you as well as the close-knit environment with your fellow students ensures that you have an outlet for the hundreds of amazing moments you will experience, but also those moments when you need a helping hand and sometimes… shoulder to cry on.
Titan Partnership offers a real life, hands on experience of teaching in schools. Both schools that Titan placed me in gave me a valuable insight into the life of a teacher. The support offered from the SBTs was given in real time, and was effective and constructive to ensure I was making progress.
The Titan cohort was small, therefore Claire got to know you individually, which is important if you have any questions or queries. Also relationships within the group were free flowing which was important as when I had a really challenging or exhilarating week, I could share my experiences with my colleagues.
Even though this year was tough, it was really important for me to have fun at my placements. Being resilient and non-defensive about feedback is crucial as this helped me become a good trainee. I would definitely recommend Titan to anyone looking into teaching!
